Kanata Cubs Peewee Select Win National Capital Cup!

Updated Monday August 28, 2017 by Kanata Baseball Association.

As the home team Kanata started #2 Ryan Lebreux on the mound.  After walking the lead off batter #6 Cam Dorken for Arnprior, the Cubs defence took over to retire the next three batters in order with ground outs to Third, Second, and First.  Kanata jumped off to a lead with the first two batters #28 Robert Garami and #87 Moors reaching base and eventualy scoring.  It was 2-0 Cubs after the first inning.

The next few innings saw runs back and forth both both teams.  #10 Jack Shulist for Arnprior was the slugger of the game with two hard hit doubles in the 4th and 6th innings where he scored both times.  #27 Jake Schenueman started on the mound for the Highlanders who only gave up 1 hit and allowed one earned run over his 2 innings of work.

In the 6th inning after Cubs pitching gave up a walk and a double, righthander #41 Dustin Blanchard was brough in to get the job done.  He retired the next six batters in order with good pitching and great defence anchored by #30 Vallejos behind the plate.

The tournament was a pleasure for everyone in attendance.  There was a big crowd there from Arnprior whith an AMAZING cheering section and all the Kanata parents were there cheering on their team.  Thank you greatly to the Highlanders organization for making such a picturesque spot available for this special tournament.

We wish the South Ottawa Blues all the best of success in the Peewee Select tournament this Labour Day long weekend!
