Benjamin J. Wilson 1970-2018

Updated Thursday February 1, 2018 by Kanata Baseball Association.

Ben Wilson, a devoted father of three, passed away suddenly on January 23, 2018. As a long time coach of Kanata and Stittsville players, he was a passionate and dedicated volunteer. He was loved and respected by everyone he came in contact with, from kids and parents to his assistants and the younger coaches that he mentored. Ben was a coach with the Major Bantam Rep team this season, and he will be sorely missed as a champion of youth baseball in our association and our community at large.

In 2015, Ben was involved with bringing a group of baseball players from the Kanata and Stittsville area to the Dominican Republic as part of a Friends for Life charity initiative.  This week, Friends for Life International agreed to add the “Ben Wilson Memorial Baseball Program” as part of the charity.  Thanks to Ben, more kids will have the chance to play on a team and wear a baseball glove.

"My last memory of Ben is a warm one. He was at the Cubhouse coaching with his Bantam team. I walked up to him, shook his hand and said, "Its good to have you back". He replied with a smile, "Its good to be back". I'll miss that relationship wont have a chance to grow stronger, but I feel good about that moment in time."
