Kanata Peewee Select Wins Tokessy Major B

Updated Monday August 13, 2018 by Kanata Baseball Association.

In order to fit into the LL age category, we had to replace some older age players with a few of the younger guys from the other Select team.  In the Peewee format, kids play with leadoffs and pickoffs with 50' pitching and 75' bases so making the adjustment to the Little League dimensions of 46' pitching and 60' bases was needed.  By arriving 2 hours before the start of the noon Friday game the players learned how to run the bases and defend in the smaller format.

The adjustment was not difficult, the team was an offensive threat on the bases with delayed steals and agressive base running, while at the same our catchers made it dangerous for baserunners to get off the bases even a little.  Adjusting to the reduced flight USA Bats took some getting used to but we had strong performances at the plate in every game.

Overall the team won 5 games straight, outscoring our opponents 39-14.  The Championship game was against a very strong High Park 11U team.  Pitching was absolutely on for the Kanata team which featured a 10 pitch, 10 strike, 3 strikeout inning.

Orleans (13-2)
Kingston (7-1)
Mississippi (14-7)
Smiths Falls (6-4)
High Park (9-0)
